Research suggests that a happy athlete is a performing athlete. The quality of the people around an athlete often impacts, positively or negatively, on the overall performance and well-being of the athlete.  Both training and competition environments can have an impact on an athlete’s well-being as the number of demands placed on the athlete can be produce mental and physical fatigue. Well-being services can cover a wide range of aspects from improving quality of life, achieving the balance between work, study, relationships and sport, aiming to reduce levels of distress (psychological or physical) and attempting to minimise the impact of setbacks on performance.
